Paraffin Wax is an organic, plastic – like substance that is solid at ambient temperature and becomes liquid when we melt them.
In general terms waxes, we derive them naturally or synthetically.
We transport Crude oil to refineries where we refined them into last products by complex processes.
One of the many products we drive from refining is lube/base oils.
In addition we produce the waxes in the lube / oil refining process.
Furthermore we classify petroleum waxes as a mixture of hydrocarbons in three general categories . They include microcrystalline, macrocystalline and semi-microcrystalline paraffin wax. PUBLTD Paraffin Waxes are macrocrystalline and provide a wide variety of physical characteristics such as oil content and melting point,… that we can use in a wide range of industries.
PRODUCTION OF PETROLEUM WAXES
We produce Base oils in a series of steps which are designed to enhance certain desirable properties such as viscosity index, low temperature properties…
In base oil production process, the solvent extracted lube fraction is dewaxed by chilling to a low temperature which removes much of the wax.
This improves the low temperature fluidity of the product, and produces we dewaxed lube fractions and slack wax. Chart 1 illustrates refining process in PUBLTD Co. Through deoiling / sweating of slack wax, we obtaain paraffin waxes.
Also paraffin wax, colourless or white, somewhat translucent, hard wax consisting of a mixture of solid straight-chain hydrocarbons ranging in melting point from about 48° to 66° C (120° to 150° F). We obtain Paraffin wax from petroleum by dewaxing light lubricating oil stocks. We use them in candles, wax paper, polishes, cosmetics, and electrical insulators. It assists in extracting perfumes from flowers, forms a base for medical ointments, and supplies a waterproof coating for wood. In wood and paper matches, it helps to ignite the matchstick by supplying an easily we vaporize hydrocarbon fuel.
We produced Paraffin wax first commercially in 1867, less than 10 years after the first petroleum well we drilled. Paraffin wax precipitates readily from petroleum on chilling. Technical progress has served only to make the separations and filtration more efficient and economical. Purification methods consist of chemical treatment, decolorization by adsorbents, and fractionation of the separated waxes into grades by distillation, recrystallization, or both. Crude oils differ widely in wax content.
