Penetration Bitumen 160/220
Penetration bitumen 160/220 is one of the soft bitumen grades. These soft grades are used in cold climates like northern Canadian cities.
Along with controlling the operating conditions, we have been able to produce the purest and high-quality bitumen, which can be referred to as the same grade.
For instance, this grade of pure and high-quality bitumen is produced from the vacuum bottom by being processed through the hot air in the reactor.
Bitumen Grade 160/220 is classified as a soft grade. However, it still has thermoplastic properties, which means that with increasing temperature, its softness increases and with decreasing temperature, it decreases.
Penetration Bitumen 160/220 Technical Properties
Penetration Bitumen 160/220 is a very soft-grade bitumen with a penetration value between 160 and 220 dmm at 25°C. It is produced through the distillation of crude oil and is designed for use in cold climate conditions where high flexibility is required to prevent pavement cracking. Its low softening point allows it to perform well in freezing environments, maintaining elasticity even under thermal stress.

Paving Bitumen 160/220 Applications
Paving Bitumen 160/220 is used as a raw material for insulating products, sealing and coating routes, repairing of the damaged road surfaces, road constructions, and as a spray bitumen. Because of its penetration degree, it can be used in special paints produced with bitumen, producing waterproof membranes, lubricants, and in many other product formulations.

Production of Bitumen Emulsions – Acts as a base for emulsified bitumen used in cold mix applications.

Flexible Asphalt Mixes – Applied where superior flexibility is needed, especially in frost-prone zones.
