Slack Wax – Product Overview
Slack Wax (SW) is a semi-refined petroleum wax derived from the dewaxing process of lubricating oil production. It contains a mix of oil and wax and typically appears as a pale yellow or light brown solid with a greasy texture. SW is available in light and heavy grades, depending on its oil content and melting point. It is widely used as a feedstock for fully refined paraffin wax, match and candle production, wood impregnation, and rust prevention formulations.
In industrial settings, SW is favored for its lubricating, water-repellent, and binding properties. It is also commonly used in the manufacture of emulsions, polishes, textiles, and construction board coatings. Due to its high oil content, slack wax offers a flexible and cost-effective solution in applications where purity is not the main requirement. It can be customized to meet industry needs in various melting ranges and oil content specifications.
✅ Heavy Slack Wax – Product Overview
Heavy Slack Wax (HSW) is a by-product of the lubricating oil refining process, characterized by a high oil content and a relatively high melting point. It is a darker, more viscous form of slack wax, typically containing 10–35% oil, making it well-suited for applications that do not require high purity. HSW is commonly used in the production of matches, candles, rust-preventive products, and plywood manufacturing, as well as in rubber extrusion, particleboard coatings, and emulsions.
Due to its oily composition and adhesive characteristics, HSW acts as an effective plasticizer, binder, and waterproofing agent in industrial applications. It is also used as a raw material for the production of fully refined or semi-refined paraffin wax. Available in various grades tailored to specific needs, it is typically packaged in slabs or liquid form in drums, poly bags, or bulk containers, depending on customer requirements.
✅ Light Slack Wax – Product Overview
Light Slack Wax (LSW) is a semi-refined wax by-product obtained during the production of base lubricating oils. It has a lower oil content than heavy slack wax—typically around 5–15%, making it lighter in color and firmer in texture. LSW is primarily used in the production of candles, matches, fire logs, and as a raw material for fully refined or semi-refined paraffin wax. It is preferred in applications where moderate purity and higher melting point are required without the cost of fully refined wax.
Thanks to its better filtration properties and cleaner appearance, LSW is also used in textiles, adhesives, emulsions, and polishes. Its performance as a plasticizer and water-repellent agent makes it suitable for use in construction materials and rubber compounding as well. It is typically supplied in slabs, pellets, or liquid form, and can be customized based on oil content, melting point, and intended use.
