VG Grade Bitumen

Product Overview

VG Grade Bitumen, also known as Viscosity Grade Bitumen, is a type of bitumen that is graded based on its viscosity at a specific temperature. This grading system is widely used in the asphalt industry to ensure that the bitumen used in road construction and other applications meets the required performance standards.

Peak Universal Business offers VG Grade Bitumen in various grades, each with its own specific viscosity range. These grades are typically designated as VG10, VG20, VG30, VG40, VG50, VG60, VG70, VG80, VG90, and VG100, with the number indicating the viscosity in centistokes at 60°C. VG Grade Bitumen is commonly used in the production of hot mix asphalt (HMA) and other asphalt-based products. It is also used in the construction of roads, highways, and other infrastructure projects.

VG Grade Bitumen is known for its excellent adhesion, durability, and resistance to weathering and aging. It is also highly resistant to water and chemicals, making it an ideal choice for use in harsh environments.

Overall, VG Grade Bitumen is a versatile and reliable material that is essential for the construction and maintenance of roads and other infrastructure.

Grade Bitumen

Viscosity Bitumen Grading:

VG bitumen is categorized based on its viscosity, which is a measure of its degree of fluidity. Viscosity tests are conducted at 60°C and 135°C, representing road surface temperature during summer and mixing temperature, respectively. Penetration at 25°C is also retained in specifications.

VG Bitumen Grades:

  • VG-10: Widely used in spraying applications such as surface-dressing and paving in very cold climates, replacing the old 80/100 Penetration grade. Also used in Bitumen Emulsion and Modified Bitumen.
  • VG-20: Used for paving in cold climates and high-altitude regions.
  • VG-30: Primarily used to construct extra heavy-duty Bitumen pavements that need to endure substantial traffic loads. Can be used instead of Bitumen 60/70.
  • VG-40: Used in highly stressed areas such as intersections, near toll booths, and truck parking lots, replacing the old 30/40 Penetration grade. Its higher viscosity allows for stiffer Bitumen mixes, improving resistance to shoving and other problems associated with higher temperatures and heavy traffic loads.
