Medium Curing MC Cutback asphalt is simply a combination of asphalt cement and petroleum solvent. In addition, like emulsions, cutbacks are used because they reduce asphalt viscosity for lower temperature uses (tack coats, fog seals, slurry seals, stabilization material).

The use of cutback asphalts is decreasing because of:

•Environmental regulations. Cutback bitumen asphalts contain volatile chemicals that evaporate into the atmosphere. Emulsified asphalts evaporate water into the atmosphere.
•Loss of high energy products. We use The petroleum solvents  require higher amounts of energy to manufacture.

Degree of liquidity developed in each case depends principally on the proportion of solvent to asphalt cement. To less degree, fluidity of cutback may affects by hardness of base asphalt. The use of cutback asphalts is decreasing because of environmental regulations.
