PVC history:

PVC was first prepared by the German chemist August Wilhelm von Hofmann in 1872, but another German chemist, Friedrich Heinrich August Klatte, in 1912 used sunlight to initiate the polymerization of vinyl chloride. Commercial application of the plastic was at first limited by its extreme rigidity.

In 1926, while trying to dehydrohalogenate PVC in a high-boiling solvent to obtain an unsaturated polymer that might bond rubber to metal, W.L.Semon, produced plasticized PVC. Finding this flexible, inert product was causes to success of the polymer. In 1930 by using plastic in shock-absorber seals, electric-wire insulation, and coated cloth products PVC gets popular.

Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) is the 3th most widely produced plastic, after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC is used in construction Because is much effective than materials such as copper, iron or wood in pipe and profile uses. Adding plasticizers can make it softer and more flexible. PVC also used in clothing and upholstery, electrical cable insulation, inflatable products and many applications in which it replaces rubber.

Caustic Soda also has many key, everyday applications, including the following applications: pulp and paper manufacture, soap and surfactant manufacture, detergents and cleaners, aluminia extraction, textiles and in the food industry
